Will the Self-Publishing Model Kill Off Traditional Publishers?
This is another in my group of articles that explain the Online Publishing Model (OPM) and how small-time authors and/or self-publishers are able to use the OPM being a more profitable alternative to the often archaic and dysfunctional traditional book publishing model. In short, using the OPM you’ll make more book sales and also you?ll net more profits, faster.
The problem arises every time a prospective author’s motivation is purely vanity. This means that, aside from self-centeredness, this individual carries a truly baseless belief that someone loves his life or what he has to say. Other people are, meanwhile, in love with the notion to be an “author,” believing that being published brings respect, accolades, attention or wealth. These individuals may initially try the standard publishing route, submitting their book suggestions to literary agents or publishing houses. If rejected, they’re going to then seek self-publishing or use POD publishers. This is when reality hits, along with the reality of meager book publishing sales is usually more devastating for the people solely enthusiastic about self-promotion or prosperity. The disappointment in not becoming an instant bestselling author is similar to throwing your own expensive bash in support of your mother plus some friends attend the party.
I did a Q&A with E.G. Foley and Ally Nathaniel, both bestselling children’s book authors who used Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP) to share independently. Their children’s books have soared up Amazon’s bestseller lists and then be a favorite to a lot of of young readers on the market! (You can find their bios and websites below the Q&A.)
Sourced media books also work with self published authors through reproduction and marketing of the books. The self published author writes, edits and prints his personal book that’s then checked by Sourced media book editors to check on for professionalism and quality. If this is satisfactory, the renowned traditional publishing house uses up every one of the re-printing and market distribution tasks with respect to mcdougal. This is done only after an agreeable revenue sharing deal may be signed through the two parties.
There is no one-size-fits-all description as it normally include the majority of the requisite elements, or maybe some. However, by combining markets with various imprints they may not be wholly traditional and never wholly a self-publishing company. Hybrid publishers may be the cost-effective style of the long run for authors who don’t command the advances or sales of New York Best Selling authors.
